The opening yesterday went really well. There was a lot of other events in town, so we very happy with the good turnout. Lots of positive feedback and interesting talks. Plenty of new information and perspectives on my works. The exhibition will be on display until September 28th.
Another positive surprise was the many artists who stopped by the exhibition. I ended up with no less than three different artist books as welcoming presents and pats on the back for work well done. I think this is one of the strengths of the Icelandic art scene – artists collaborate more, they share ideas and by doing so create a more open and including art scene. In some other places there seem to be a bit higher tendency to see other artists as potential competitors and perhaps even a threat. Thus you have a more lonely and less dynamic environment in which to grow.
I will now be planning my fourth photographic journey through Iceland, and will be leaving Iceland tomorrow or the day after. Not sure where I'll will be going yet. At this time I only have a very messy list of possible locations.
I will try to post updates whenever I'm within reach of wi-fi.
